Interesting Transactions – Proud To Be Lawyers For The Kelowna Rockets

Pushor Mitchell is proud to be the “Lawyers for the Rockets”, one of the most respected and successful junior hockey teams in North America.

Paul Mitchell, Q.C. has been the lead partner for the Rockets legal team since they relocated to Kelowna 19 years ago. He originally acted as lead legal counsel for the Rockets in negotiating their 30 year lease with RG Properties Ltd and the City of Kelowna in 1998, which was one of the first Public Private Partnerships transactions in all of B.C.

The firm has also assisted the Rockets with all their other legal needs including;

  • HR and employment contracts for key staff and coaches
  • All legal contracts for the 2004 Mastercard Memorial Cup, and the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship, including lease and service contracts with Prospera Place, sponsorship agreements with corporate sponsors, event sponsorship contracts with the WHL, the CHL, and IIHF, tent rental agreements, event sponsorship and location contracts, volunteer agreements, employment agreements, and all other legal requirements for the Mastercard Memorial Cup, and the World Junior Championships. The legal fees for all of the work for these two events was donated pro-bono by Paul Mitchell, Q.C., and all the other lawyers in the firm involved, to facilitate the successful production and financial viability of the events.
