Why did you become a lawyer?
The cliché is somewhat warranted; but to help find solutions to client’s challenges, whether it is protecting their business or their personal interests.
What is the focus of your law practice?
A variety of civil litigation matters, predominately in the area of commercial and contractual disputes.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you like to attempt?
If I was born two generations earlier photography would have been my professional pursuit. The mid-20th century was the ‘golden era’ to be a photographer.
If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you never do?
Never say never. But a chimney sweep comes to mind.

Easy – the iPhone 5
What is the first thing you check each morning?
The Globe and Mail.
What are people most surprised to learn about you?
I am a bit of a bibliophile. I have a small but growing collection of fine art photography books as well as a nice collection of books by Canadian poets, notably Al Purdy and Irving Layton – both were true national treasures.
Your biggest extravagance?
Traditionally, money unmercifully spent on Leica and Hasselblad camera equipment. As of late, funds spent feeding my book collection.
Your favourite food and drink?
My mother’s lasagna, coffee from Stumptown, and cut throat pale ale from Tree Brewing.
