Monthly Lawyer Profile – Taryn Moore

Why did you become a lawyer?

According to all members of my family, I was a “natural debater” and I always wanted things to be fair (middle child). I think that both fairness and an apparent need to debate drove me towards law.

What is the focus of your law practice?

I focus my legal practice on family law. This practice includes both court work and negotiating family law agreements. I also practice Collaborative Family Law which I really enjoy.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you like to attempt?

A middle-school teacher or yoga instructor – not sure that I have the requisite “zen” required for either.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you never do?

I can’t think of one…probably anything that requires a lot of coordination – I’m a bit of a clutz.

Your favourite technology tool?

My Smartphone or Outlook.

What is the first thing you check each morning?

My children.

What are people most surprised to learn about you?

That is hard to say…I suppose that would depend on what people expected of me.

Your biggest extravagance?

Fashion and Americanos.

Your favourite food and drink?

According to my daughter’s Mother’s Day project – Spinach Pizza and Red White. Pretty accurate really.

Your favourite motto?

Be Nice.
