Why did you become a lawyer? 

Back in the 1980’s I was working in a junior management position in a manufacturing plant and realized that I was going to need an MBA or Law degree to get to the executive management level.  I already had a business background so I thought Law degree would be helpful.  I didn’t really plan to be a lawyer but once I got to law school I changed my mind.

What is the focus of your law practice? 

Tax, trusts, corporate law, estate planning and charities law.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you like to attempt? 

Entrepreneur/business owner.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you never do? 

When I was younger I had a job loading and unloading trucks.  Back-breaking work and got me to realize the importance of education.

Your favourite technology tool? 

Google.

What is the first thing you check each morning? 

My Globe and Mail.

What are people most surprised to learn about you? 

Law is my second career.

Your biggest extravagance?

New hockey equipment.

Your favourite food and drink?

I love good food.  But my favourite is perfectly cooked pasta and a nice red wine.

Your favourite motto? 

Kaizen (Japanese for continuous improvement).
