Brent Coyne is a partner at Pushor Mitchell and a member of our Family Law group.
Brent advises clients in all aspects of family law. He has a range of experience in resolving complex property claims involving businesses and high-net-worth individuals, parenting and guardianship issues, relocation and protecting individuals from family violence. He also devotes a portion of his practice to negotiating and drafting a wide range of marriage and separation agreements.
Brent assists clients whose family issues may not be suitable or otherwise conducive to mediation. He is primarily geared towards resolving disputes through litigation. Brent provides strong representation and has successfully argued cases at all levels of court in British Columbia. However, he recognizes that all options ought to be available to his clients through negotiation, mediation and litigation, or a combination of these approaches when appropriate.
Brent also has considerable commercial and civil litigation experience in a variety of matters involving breaches of contract, negligence claims, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, as well issues involving real and stratified property.
Brent sits on the board of directors for the Kelowna Art Gallery and is the governance director for Canada Skateboard, the national governing body for amateur skateboard athletes & Olympians. Brent is also an active member of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC, the Canadian Bar Association and the Kelowna Bar Association.
Brent completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia, obtained his Juris Doctor at Bond University on the Gold Coast in Australia and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2012.
Outside of the office, Brent, his wife and daughter enjoy canoeing, camping and fishing throughout British Columbia in the summer and skiing in the winter. He is also an avid sport and alpine rock climber.
