On May 7, Pushor Mitchell lawyer Andrea East will be presenting at CLEBC’s Indigenous Real Estate 2024 educational session. Her talk will address “Due Diligence” within the field of Indigenous real estate, covering topics such as priorities in a non-Torrens system, how to read a parcel abstract from ILRS, and best practices.
This session is the first of three upcoming courses put on by The Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC) exploring “Real estate practice on First Nations lands” and is intended for “All lawyers practicing in the area of real estate in BC,” while also being of potential interest to notaries and paralegals.
“Indigenous real estate is in an exciting place, with First Nations and their business partners leading innovation in real estate transactions, development, land use models, and opportunities,” states the session’s description.
“We will explore a broad spectrum of topics within the real estate space to provide context, technical knowledge, best and culturally aligned practices for real estate transactions, leasing, development, joint ventures, financing, and more.”
The talk will take place on Tuesday May 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:oo p.m. (PDT), with Andrea’s session scheduled for 10:40 a.m.
