On October 26, the Chamber Music Kelowna Society launched their 2024/2025 season at the Mary Edwin Theatre. The season kicked off with a performance by the Gryphon Trio, an award-winning, Canadian classical trio from Toronto. This year represents Chamber Music Kelowna’s 45th season of performances here in Kelowna.
After an illness left a member of the previously scheduled Hermitage Piano Trio unable to perform, the Society had the good fortune of booking the prestigious Gryphon Trio, as they happened to be on their way to Vancouver for a series of November concerts.
The Gryphon Trio boast an impressive resume, having been nominated for eleven Juno Awards, and having won three for Classical Album of the Year in 2004, 2011, and 2019. In 2013, the Trio received the prestigious Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in Performing Arts. The ability to attract a group of such renown—particularly on short notice—speaks not only to the caliber of artists hosted by the Chamber Music Kelowna Society but also its reputation and influence within the classical music community.
The inaugural 2024/2025 concert was sponsored by Pushor Mitchell LLP, with CMK board member and PM partner Paul Tonita assisting in a prize draw at intermission.
The Chamber Music Kelowna Society strives to provide individuals with the opportunity to experience live chamber music in an intimate setting, while supporting the local music community by bringing high-quality, accomplished artists to the Okanagan. We’re excited for what the 2024/2025 season has in store.
Upcoming concert dates include:
- WindSync Wind Quintet – Friday, November 22, 2024
- Kerson Leong & Jessica Xylina Osborne – Saturday, December 14, 2024
