Pushor Mitchell was recently chosen as one of the 2012 FortisBC PowerSense Conservation Excellence Award recipients. “Every year, FortisBC recognizes business leaders and individuals who strive to make energy efficiency a part of their organization” said John Walker, President and CEO, FortisBC.
At Pushor Mitchell, after completing the Climate Smart program in 2011, we knew that it was time to make some changes. Energy saving areas that were identified included our older vintage gas boilers and older lighting. Eight aging natural gas boilers have since been replaced by five high efficiency natural gas boilers which have resulted in lower energy costs and a more comfortable work environment. Old-style lighting has also been replaced with energy efficient fluorescents and LED lights.
By adopting these energy efficient changes, there has been a 38% reduction in natural gas usage and a 26,000 kWh savings of electricity.
Pushor Mitchell congratulates the other award recipients: City of Kelowna, City of Penticton, Delta Grand Hotel, District of Summerland, Hudson’s Bay, Interior Health, Interior Savings Credit Union, Kelowna Toyota, Loblaws, Northwood retirement resort, Oliver School District 53, Okanagan Strata Management, Orchard Park Shopping Centre, Overwaitea Foods, Sears Canada, Weyerhaeuser, Sunstar Ventures, UBC Okanagan, Versatile Fab and Machine, and the Village of Keremeos.
