Monthly Lawyer Profile – Vanessa DeDominicis

Why did you become a lawyer?

My parents always used to say that I could persuade anyone that black was actually white. Law seemed like a natural choice. I love my job.

What is the focus of your law practice?

I do solicitors work including business law, conveyancing, first nations land, wills, estates and intellectual property.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you like to attempt?

I’d love to try my hand at being an interior designer.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you never do?

I could never be a cook. Making toast is about the extent of my culinary skills. My husband is Italian, our nanny is Filipina, both are fabulous cooks so it’s not a skill I need to hone anytime soon.

Your favourite technology tool?

Love my blackberry. I can BBM friends from home (the UK) for nothing, can’t beat that.

What is the first thing you check each morning?

My twin girls, age 18 months.

What are people most surprised to learn about you?

I love UFC, drive a big truck and listen to country music.

Your biggest extravagance?

Shoes – there is no such thing as too many pairs!

Your favourite food and drink?

I could eat Sushi morning, noon and night. My favourite drink is definitely milk, add a splash of Baileys and it’s even better!

Your favourite motto?

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it. Life is beauty, admire it. Life is a dream, realize it. Life is a challenge, meet it. Life is a duty, complete it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a promise, fulfill it. Life is sorrow, overcome it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a struggle, accept it. Life is a tragedy, confront it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is luck, make it. Life is too precious, do not destroy it. Life is life, fight for it.”
