Pushor Mitchell LLP is pleased to recognize partner Theresa Arsenault, QC, who created the Theresa Arsenault Aboriginal Access Studies Award at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan.
Theresa has practiced law in the Okanagan for 40 years, and one of her focus areas is First Nations transactions and estate planning, as well as commercial and residential development. She has been involved with UBC since she attended university there in the 1970’s, and later served on their Presidents Advisory Council and External Community Advisory Committee for UBCO, and for six years on the UBC Board of Governors. She was recognized by UBC for her contributions to UBC and to the community with an honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree in 2021.
Theresa learned of the Aboriginal Access Program at UBC Okanagan during her time on their Board, and wanted to create an award that could provide immediate funding assistance for indigenous students that was not addressed in other assistance programs. Theresa says “education was and is of the highest importance in my life, and I am so pleased to provide opportunities to access education to help indigenous students and their communities thrive.”
