If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you like to attempt?

I would definitely want to be a professional golfer.  I consider myself a good golfer, but I am nowhere near being able to make a living at it.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what profession would you never do?

I couldn’t do anything that involved working on scaffolding.  I am afraid of heights.

Why did you become a lawyer?

I became a lawyer because my family would have disowned me if I didn’t.  My great grandfather was a lawyer and a judge, my grandfather was a lawyer, my father is a lawyer, and my uncle is a judge.  That being said, I love what I do.

How do you help clients?

I help clients by bringing a practical approach to my files.  I have an undergraduate Bachelor of Commerce degree and I believe that my background helps me understand my clients’ needs.  I enjoy working with clients on the purchase and sale of businesses, business contracts, real estate purchases and sales, drafting wills, and on First Nations law matters.

Your favourite technology tool?

I love my iPad.  It is not useful for my job in any way, but it is still my favourite technology tool.

What do you do with all your spare time?

I like to spend time with my wife and 20 month old son, play golf, ski, play hockey and travel.

What are people most surprised to learn about you?

I am a big fan of Jay-Z.  My team won the Pushor Mitchell dance competition at our retreat two years ago with a great hip-hop dance.

Your biggest extravagance?

I spend way too much money on golfing, golf equipment, golf clothes and golf gadgets.

Your favourite food and drink?

I love all types of food, but I have a big sweet tooth.  I can’t resist any dessert with chocolate, caramel and / or peanut butter.  My favourite drink is beer.

“Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.”
