Taryn is a partner at Pushor Mitchell and a member of the Family Law Group. Taryn provides general family law services and is an experienced Collaborative Family Law practitioner. Her top client priorities are, clear communication, compassion and accessibility, and she considers a trusting relationship with her clients the single most important aspect of a good law practice.
Clients who need resolution to their family law issues, either through the court system, or by alternative approaches such as mediation, rely on Taryn to help guide them towards their goal. She assists clients throughout the entire separation and divorce process, including the division of family property and debt, family support (child and/or spousal) and numerous issues related to parenting. She shares her clients’ focus on ensuring a bright future for themselves and their family. Taryn has extensive experience with high net worth and financially complex family files and works closely with other professionals including accountants, business valuators, tax specialist and counselling/support professionals.
Taryn has extensive experience drafting co-habitation, pre-nuptial and marriage agreements, based on her belief that discussing and setting expectations in a person’s relationship at the outset is incredibly important.
Taryn is active in both the legal profession in the Okanagan Valley area and in the province more broadly. She has previously acted as co-editor for the J.P. Boyd on Family Law Wikibook and co-editor for the CLE Family Law Agreements Manual. Further, she has co-presented at the CBA Okanagan Family subsection Annual Family Law Conference and has a particular interest in professional support and collegiality amongst the family bar. She is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and a former executive member of the Kelowna Bar Association. Within the local community she volunteers by being a member of the UBCO Behavioural Ethics Research Board.
Born and raised in Kelowna, Taryn enjoys everything it has to offer and can often be found enjoying life with her family, friends and/or colleagues hiking, walking or running. As much as she enjoys the outdoors, however, she is happiest when spending time with her family.
